EDUCATE ON CLIMATE

CLIMAT-ALERTE TV MAG was born from a single conviction: clear information, close to local realities, and focused on solutions that inspire lasting change. In the face of climate disruptions, everyone must be able to understand the phenomena, recognize the risks, and identify actions that protect peoples, livelihoods, and ecosystems.

The Challenge: Breaking the Media Silence on Climate Change

While environmental degradation rapidly reshapes our territories, climate change remains vastly underreported in mainstream media. Scattered awareness is no longer enough. To build systemic resilience, we must break this media silence. Climate literacy must be structurally embedded into school curricula, while professional media houses must be actively mobilized to elevate environmental reporting from a secondary topic to a prime-time editorial priority.

Our Operational Framework: Media Mobilization & Educational Advocacy

This component bridges top-down institutional advocacy with massive media mobilization, transforming how ecological challenges are communicated to the public. It deploys across three strategic axes:

  1. Mobilizing Mainstream Media for Increased Climate Coverage
  • The Action: We actively advocate for and collaborate with editors, journalists, and media executives to institutionalize climate change as a permanent fixture in their newsrooms.
  • The Strategy: Overcoming the lack of environmental coverage by organizing professional workshops, media coalitions, and providing ready-to-broadcast content to encourage radio, TV, and digital platforms to significantly increase their environmental airtime.
  1. Broad Classrooms: Institutional Advocacy for Curricula Reform
  • The Action: We lead targeted advocacy campaigns directed at educational ministries to officially integrate structured climate adaptation and biodiversity modules into national school programs.
  • The Network: Constructing 156 school and university environmental clubs. These clubs serve as local green incubators where 2 million students transition from passive learners to active eco-citizens. Their field achievements are highlighted through the transversal CLIMAT-ALERTE Awards.
  1. Mass Public Information via CLIMAT-ALERTE TV MAG
  • The Action: Leveraging the 20-year production engineering of MEDIAPRO CAMEROON and our educational channel Africa Innovation TV (AITV), we produce and broadcast 156 high-definition programs.
  • The Narrative: Showcasing grassroots Nature-based Solutions and deploying the CLIMAT-ALERTE EXPO—a mobile and digital photojournalism exhibition designed to shake public opinion, trigger civic debate, and hold environmental actors accountable.

Intended 3-Year Metrics & Impact

  • A measurable increase in climate-related broadcasting hours across national and regional media networks.
  • 2 million students climate-educated and structured across 156 active environmental clubs.
  • An informed, critical, and engaged public driving local climate governance and behavioral change.
